Trade Education

HWTC offers many educational events including: - Import/Export Seminar: Get the background you need to import or export successfully and profitably. The newly designed Import/Export Overview is a series of two, half-day seminars that offer a preview of the entire import/export process and how customs and export procedures work. The program will benefit any business involved in international trade, or that would like to explore doing business in the global marketplace. - Exporters Workshop: Held once a quarter and Open to companies doing business internationally or looking to expand globally, this series is designed to address export-related topics. Trade Information

HWTC offers a limited amount of custom research that can be done: - General Research: Basic questions can be answered free of charge. For questions requiring more extensive research, an outside consultant should be engaged. HWTC can provide a list of consultants. - Company Lists: The center can provide lists of Houston companies, including their address, phone and fax numbers, industry classification, business description and number of employees. Most listings are verified annually. - One-on-one briefings: Staff analysts can provide a 30-minute overview of Houston`s economy and the key industries that drive it. By appointment only. For addtional information, including costs, please email hwtcinfo@houston.org Hotel Conference Meeting or Conference Facilities: HWTC has several meeting facilities, ranging from a state-of-the-art Board Room that can hold up to 80 people to small meeting rooms. Int. Trade Library

The Houston World Trade Center`s International Business Information Center is open 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. WTC staff is on call to assist with research in the center. The center`s holdings include: - Magazines and Newspapers: Area Development, Black Enterprise, Business Facilities, Business Week, Far Eastern Economic Review, The Economist, Engineering News Record, Expansion Management, Forbes, Fortune, Harvard Business Journal, Hispanic Business, Houston Business Journal, Inc., Journal of Commerce, Money, Newsweek, Oil & Gas Investor, Oil & Gas Journal, Port of Houston, Real Estate Forum, Sales & Marketing Management, Site Selection, Texas Monthly, Time, U.S. News, World Energy and World Press Review World Trade Center members can also access the internet resources via work stations available in the information center. The work stations have links to numerous web sites that provide useful information for those engaged in international trade. There is no charge to use the library or work stations.

Group Trade Missions

An integrated service is offered to incoming trade missions. This service can include such items as meeting logistics, hotel arrangements, providing meeting rooms and interpreters, planning receptions, arranging meetings with local businessmen, site visits to companies, and industry/economic briefings. Preference of 3 months advanced notice required. Able to accommodate depending on time of visit. Business briefings can also be arranged with sufficient notice.
