As Director of Global
Strategic Communications for the Manpower group of companies, Britt Zarling is
a member of the Global Leadership Team where she has responsibility for Manpower
Inc.’s strategic planning process, as well as aligning communications
internally and externally to drive strategic execution. Zarling leads the
company’s global public relations, chief executive office and organizational
communications, elevating, promoting and protecting the Manpower brand; setting
the tone for how the Manpower group is represented inside the company as well
as in the marketplace. By bringing the public relations, internal
communications and strategic communications functions together, it is Zarling’s
job to ensure the organization’s alignment to the Manpower’s strategy, drive
accountability of on-message branding to deliver the Manpower Experience to colleagues,
clients and candidates.
Prior to becoming Director of Global Strategic Communications, Zarling served
as CEO Special Projects Manager where she worked with the Executive Management
Team to develop, implement and accelerate global business strategies. This
collaborative role had her working across various sectors of the business to
drive accountability and results. In addition, she handled all of the CEO’s
public relations and executive office communications in all media and forums.
Zarling joined Manpower in 2005 as Global Communications Manager where she was
responsible for external communications strategies and media relations. Zarling
worked with international journalists to elevate the company’s profile as the
leader in the changing world of work. In this position, Zarling developed
global PR campaigns and collaborated with the global network of Manpower
communications professionals to collect, develop and disseminate ideas and best
practices for use in communications programs.
Prior to joining Manpower, Zarling was Senior Manager of Public Relations at
Zizzo Group Advertising & Public Relations, a Milwaukee-based agency, where
she worked in a variety of industries, including tourism and hospitality,
legal, accounting, and healthcare. Her previous experience in international and
corporate communications includes several years as Media Relations Manager for
GE Healthcare and with other GE businesses in public relations, marketing and
organizational communications capacities. She has also worked with corporate
brands such as Harley-Davidson Motor Company and Wisconsin Gas Company. Zarling
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of
Wisconsin.
In 2009 Zarling was a recipient of the Business Journal’s elite Forty Under 40
distinction. She serves on the boards of the World Trade Center of Wisconsin and
Community Health Charities of Wisconsin; and is a member of the Public
Relations Society of America; and a volunteer with Junior Achievement.
